Apophyllite: Lift Your 3rd Eye into Higher Realms

THE FACTS

Apophyllite crystal cluster specimen, India

Apophyllite is a hydrated potassium calcium silicate and a 5 on the Mohs hardness scale. It has a tetragonal crystal system & is clear, white, grey, or green. It is often found in basalt and ancient lava flows.

Apophyllite comes from the Greek words apo meaning “away from” & “leaf,” referring to its ability to exfoliate like a leaf when heated. This is because Apophyllite has a high water content, which also makes it a conductor of energy & electricity. It is often found in naturally-occurring pyramid shapes, as druzy crystals on other minerals (most notably, Stilbite), and in clusters.

A LITTLE HISTORY

Apophyllite was first discovered in early 1800’s, and is a common crystal found worldwide. The largest Apophyllite crystals have been found in the Deccan Traprocks of India, an area well-known for an abundance of zeolite-producing Basalt quarries.

Energetically, Apophyllite has been used for scrying or divination purposes, along with other spiritually-related healing work.

 (Spiritual and emotional healing)

Apophyllite is great for use in meditation, helping to clear the mind of unwanted thoughts and allowing for expansion of consciousness, including communication with spirit guides. Visions are a common outcome of meditating with Apophyllite. It is a great stone to use for clearing grief from the body, helping release feelings of loss, & also emotional pain, such as heartache. It is believed to enhance the ability to receive renewed joy and love.

Try placing an Apophyllite crystal point on your Third Eye chakra while meditating. Feel the relaxed, calming energies. You can also place a piece directly out of eyesight during meditation – allow yourself to be guided along pathways of bright light to higher, deeper planes of spiritual awareness!

Meditating with Apophyllite helps ground spiritual lessons into applications related to repairing physical disease and imbalance. It is believed to aid in skin healing & regeneration, and can be used to dissolve blockages in the body. With strong stimulation effects on the pineal gland (associated with the Third Eye), Apophyllite can help relieve stress, tension, & anxiety. It can help those suffering from low energy (due to leukemia or chronic fatigue syndrome) and detoxification related to chemical & environmental pollution.

Due to the high water content, Apophyllite is especially healing when placed over the lungs or lymphatic system, and near the chest for asthma. Try placing small Apophyllite points over closed eyes to improve sight & relieve stressed or tired eyes.

Other ways to use Apophyllite

Apophyllite is a stone to have around your home! Grid rooms and spaces to decrease depression, anxiety, or stress. Place specimens on a table or shelf in each of the 4 directions with a fifth in the center, creating a powerful geometric energy grid to clear and purify. Identify & release negative thought patterns. Grid your bed & rest spaces in the same way (fifth piece under the bed!) to increase the quality of rest & to help with remembering dreams.
